The Present Moment

If you find yourself lost in the past,

Wrestling with if only—a shadow cast,

Be gentle, dear soul, for the past can bring

A heavy heart and its aching sting.

Regret changes nothing, it cannot mend,

Hindsight blooms only as time extends.

Remarkable, yes, but its wisdom grows

Through trials faced, through life’s ebbs and flows.

You did what you could, with all you knew,

The choices you made were right for you.

If you could have acted some other way,

You would have—trust that truth today.

And if your mind drifts to what’s ahead,

To anxious whispers, to fear and dread,

Remember, no one holds the crystal ball,

The future’s a mystery that touches us all.

It hasn’t arrived; it’s not yours to change,

So don’t let your thoughts wildly range.

Instead, root yourself where life is clear,

In the present moment—so precious, so near.

Smell the coffee, rich and sweet,

Feel the sunrise’s gentle heat.

Watch the mist on the rolling hills,

Hear nature’s song, the world it fills.

Feel the wind as it brushes your face,

Let your breath find its natural pace.

Your heart, it beats with a rhythm so true,

You are more than you know; the quiet shows you.

The present is yours—your sacred space,

The here and now, life’s warm embrace.

Hold it gently, let its beauty unfold,

For it’s all you have, more precious than gold.
